CHRIST IS RISEN!

Dear brothers and sisters,

On the sixth Sunday of Pascha, the Church remembers the Gospel event of the healing of the man born blind. This account is read in church during the final days of the Paschal period and helps us understand more deeply what the Resurrection of Christ means for the human person.

The man born blind was someone who had never seen light. When the disciples saw him, they asked the Lord: “Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” This question reflects a very common human desire to explain suffering through someone’s guilt. But Christ answers differently: “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” In this way, the Lord shows us that human suffering cannot always be explained by simple blame. Sometimes, precisely through weakness, pain, and difficult circumstances, the work of God’s mercy is revealed.

Christ heals the man born blind in an unusual way: He anoints his eyes with clay and sends him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. After this, the man returns seeing. Then, from the Gospel account, we see how the healed man passes not only through physical sight, but also through the spiritual recognition of Christ. In the end, he confesses faith in the Son of God and worships Him.

This is where the main meaning of this Sunday is revealed: Christ opens not only the sight of the eyes, but also the sight of the heart. The man born blind first receives the ability to see the world with his physical eyes, but gradually comes to something greater — the ability to recognize in Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, with the eyes of the heart.

For this reason, the Sunday of the Blind Man reminds us that without Christ a person may see with the eyes, yet remain in spiritual darkness: unable to understand the meaning of life, unable to see the work of God, and unable to recognize Christ nearby. But the Risen Lord opens true sight to the human person: the ability to see the world, our neighbor, and ourselves in the light of His truth and love.

In the remaining days of the Paschal period, let us prayerfully ask the Lord for the enlightenment of our hearts — so that the light of Christ’s Resurrection may not remain for us only a festive memory, but may become the spiritual vision of our life, our decisions, our relationships, and our path toward salvation.

Возлюбленные о Господе братья и сестры!

В шестую Неделю по Пасхе Церковь вспоминает евангельское событие об исцелении слепорожденного. Это повествование читается в храме в последние дни пасхального периода и помогает нам глубже понять, что Воскресение Христово означает для человека.

Слепорожденный был человеком, который никогда не видел света. Когда ученики увидели его, они спросили Господа: «Кто согрешил, он или родители его, что родился слепым?» Этот вопрос отражает очень распространенное человеческое стремление объяснить страдание через чью-то вину. Но Христос отвечает иначе: «Не согрешил ни он, ни родители его, но это для того, чтобы на нем явились дела Божии». Тем самым Господь показывает, что человеческое страдание нельзя всегда объяснять простым обвинением. Иногда именно через немощь, боль и трудные обстоятельства открывается действие Божией милости.

Христос исцеляет слепорожденного необычным образом: помазывает его глаза брением и посылает умыться в купальне Силоам. После этого человек возвращается зрячим. Далее из евангельского повествования мы видим, как исцеленный проходит путь не только телесного прозрения, но и духовного узнавания Христа. В итоге он исповедует веру в Сына Божия и поклоняется Ему.

Именно в этом раскрывается главный смысл этой Недели: Христос открывает человеку не только зрение очей, но и зрение сердца. Слепорожденный сначала получает способность видеть мир телесными глазами, но постепенно приходит к большему, к способности узнать в Иисусе Христа, Сына Божия, глазами сердца.

Поэтому Неделя о слепом напоминает нам, что без Христа человек может видеть глазами, но оставаться в духовной темноте: не понимать смысла жизни, не видеть действия Божия, не узнавать Христа рядом с собой. А Воскресший Господь открывает человеку подлинное зрение: способность видеть мир, ближних и самого себя в свете Его истины и любви.

В оставшиеся дни Пасхального периода будем молитвенно просить у Господа просвещения нашего сердца — чтобы свет Христова Воскресения не остался для нас только праздничным воспоминанием, но стал духовным прозрением нашей жизни, наших решений, наших отношений и нашего пути ко спасению.
