Dear brothers and sisters,

As we approach the Feast of the Holy Trinity, we enter special days in the life of the Church — days of prayer, remembrance, and spiritual renewal. The Church leads us toward Pentecost through prayer for the departed on Trinity Memorial Saturday, through the festal services of the Day of the Holy Trinity, and through the special glorification of the Holy Spirit on Monday after the feast.

Trinity Memorial Saturday begins with the memorial service on Friday evening and continues with the Divine Liturgy and Panikhida on Saturday morning. On this day, the Church especially prays for all Orthodox Christians departed from the ages.

This commemoration before Trinity has deep meaning. Pentecost is the birthday of the Church. On this day, the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and gathered people into the one Body of Christ. Therefore, on the eve of the feast, the Church prayerfully remembers all her children — those still living on earth and those who have already departed to the Lord.

Our prayer for our departed loved ones is the continuation of our love for them, a love that does not end with bodily death. We believe that all are alive before God, and we ask the Lord to grant our relatives and loved ones forgiveness of sins and eternal rest in His Kingdom.

The next day we celebrate the Day of the Holy Trinity, also called Pentecost. This feast is celebrated on the fiftieth day after Pascha. On this day, the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles in the form of fiery tongues, and they received the power to preach the Gospel to the whole world. The fear of the disciples was changed into courage, waiting into action, and the small apostolic community became the beginning of the Church’s preaching to all nations.

Pentecost reveals to us the mystery of the life of the Church. The Church lives by the grace of the Holy Spirit. He sanctifies the Holy Mysteries, strengthens us in faith, heals the soul, and unites us with Christ and with one another.

On the Feast of the Holy Trinity, churches are traditionally decorated with tree branches and flowers. This greenery reminds us of life, renewal, and the fact that the Holy Spirit gives life to all creation and to the human soul.

After the Divine Liturgy, a special Great Vespers with kneeling prayers is served. For the first time after Pascha, we again bend our knees before God and ask for the grace of the Holy Spirit, for the forgiveness of sins, for help for the living, and for the repose of the departed.

On Monday after Trinity, the Church celebrates the Day of the Holy Spirit. On this day, we especially honor the Holy Spirit — the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, the Giver of Life, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, who abides in the Church and leads the human person to salvation.

My dear ones, these holy days bring together prayer for the departed, the joy of Pentecost, and the glorification of the Holy Spirit. They remind us of the fullness of Church life: of love that is stronger than death, of the Church living by the grace of God, and of the Holy Spirit, who gives life, sanctifies, and leads us to Christ.

We joyfully await all of you at the services during these holy and festive days. Together, with one mouth and one heart, let us pray for the departed, celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity, and open our hearts to the action of the Holy Spirit.

Возлюбленные о Господе братья и сестры!

Приближаясь к празднику Святой Троицы, мы входим в особые дни церковной жизни, в дни молитвы, памяти и духовного обновления. Церковь ведет нас к Пятидесятнице через молитву об усопших в Троицкую родительскую субботу, через праздничные богослужения Дня Святой Троицы и через особое прославление Святого Духа в понедельник после праздника.

Троицкая родительская суббота начинается с заупокойного богослужения в пятницу вечером и продолжается Божественной литургией и панихидой в субботу утром. В этот день Церковь особенно молится обо всех от века усопших православных христианах.

Это поминовение совершается перед Троицей с глубоким смыслом. Пятидесятница это день рождения Церкви. В этот день Святой Дух сошел на апостолов и собрал людей в единое Тело Христово. Поэтому накануне праздника Церковь молитвенно вспоминает всех своих чад, еще живущих на земле и уже отошедших ко Господу.

Наша молитва за наших усопших сродников это продолжение нашей любви к ним, которая не прекращается с телесной смертью. Мы верим, что у Бога все живы, и просим Господа даровать нашим родным и близким прощение грехов и вечный покой в Его Царствии.

На следующий день мы празднуем День Святой Троицы, или Пятидесятницу. Этот праздник совершается на пятидесятый день после Пасхи. В этот день Святой Дух сошел на апостолов в виде огненных языков, и они получили силу проповедовать Евангелие всему миру. Страх учеников сменился мужеством, ожидание - действием, а малая община апостолов стала началом церковной проповеди всем народам.

Пятидесятница открывает нам тайну жизни Церкви. Церковь живет благодатью Святого Духа. Он освящает Таинства, укрепляет нас в вере, исцеляет душу, соединяет нас со Христом и друг с другом.

В праздник Троицы храмы традиционно украшаются ветвями деревьев и цветами. Зелень напоминает о жизни, обновлении и о том, что Святой Дух оживляет все творение и человеческую душу.

После Божественной литургии совершается особая Великая вечерня с коленопреклонными молитвами. Впервые после Пасхи мы вновь преклоняем колени пред Богом и просим о благодати Святого Духа, о прощении грехов, о помощи живым и об упокоении усопших.

В понедельник после Троицы Церковь празднует День Святого Духа. В этот день мы особенно чтим Святого Духа — Третью Ипостась Святой Троицы, Животворящего, Утешителя, Духа истины, Который пребывает в Церкви и ведет человека ко спасению.

Дорогие мои, эти святые дни соединяют молитву за усопших, радость Пятидесятницы и прославление Святого Духа. Они напоминают нам о полноте церковной жизни: о любви, которая сильнее смерти, о Церкви, живущей благодатью Божией, и о Святом Духе, Который оживляет, освящает и ведет нас ко Христу.

Всех вас с радостью ждем на богослужениях в эти святые и праздничные дни. Вместе, едиными устами и единым сердцем, помолимся об усопших, встретим праздник Святой Троицы и откроем сердце действию Святого Духа.
