Wednesday, May 6 - Great Martyr Saint George and the Holy Martyr Saint Alexandra of Rome, Divine Liturgy @ 9:30 AM On May 6, the Church honors the holy Great Martyr Saint George and the holy Martyr Saint Alexandra of Rome, who bore witness to Christ with courage and unwavering faith. Saint George, a soldier, openly confessed Christ before the emperor and endured fierce suffering, becoming a powerful image of victory through faith. Saint Alexandra, the empress, was moved by his witness and herself confessed Christ, choosing suffering over earthly honor. Their lives reveal that true strength is found not in power, but in steadfast faithfulness to Christ, even unto death. To our dear parishioners named George and Alexandra, may God grant you many years!
Friday, May 8 - Holy Apostle and Evangelist Saint Mark the Evangelist, Matins and Divine Liturgy @ 8:45 AM On May 8, the Church honors the holy Apostle and Evangelist Saint Mark, a faithful disciple of the Apostles and the author of the Gospel that bears his name. He labored tirelessly to proclaim Christ, especially in Egypt, where he founded the Church of Alexandria. Through his preaching, writing, and martyrdom, Saint Mark revealed the living presence of Christ to the nations, reminding us that the Gospel is not merely words, but the power of God at work in the world. To our dear parishioners named Mark, may God grant you many years!
