Cathedral Milestones

Property Acquisition

2024

COMPLETE

Our journey began with the successful acquisition of the ideal property for the Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, marking a pivotal first step in our ambitious project. The acquisition involved securing a 9,000 square-foot facility located at 1416 SE 2nd Terrace, Deerfield Beach, FL, on 1.32 acres of prime land. This $3 Million property purchase was completed with the generous support of our community, with a $1.5 million investment to purchase the property. This foundational achievement has set the stage for the transformative developments to follow.

Foundation & Expansion

IN PROGRESS

Lay the foundational structures and create community spaces to occupy and utilize our property as our top priority:

Church Buildout:

Transforming the existing structure into a sacred space that meets both aesthetic and liturgical needs.

Addition of 2 side Altars:

Enhancing our Cathedral with two altars dedicated to two modern day saints - St. John of Sanghai and San Francisco and St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon of Crimea.

Altar Addition:

Expanding the architectural prominence of the Cathedral with a large, new altar which will allow the expansion of the main Cathedral by 2000 sq. ft. and accommodate a rapidly growing parish.

Exterior Adornments:

Beautifying the Cathedral and offering spiritual inspiration through expertly crafted mosaic icons surrounding the entire exterior of the Cathedral and the entrance to the Cultural Center.

Parish Hall Renovation & Enhanced Cultural Center:

Modernizing the parish hall to serve as a multifunctional space for community gatherings, educational programs, and cultural events. Developing spaces such as a music library, performance stage, mom’s quiet room and children’s areas.

Kitchen Installation:

Equipping the kitchen with modern facilities to support community functions and festive gatherings.

Bell Tower Addition:

Enhancing the architectural beauty of the Cathedral and symbolizing the proclamation of the Gospels with awe inspiring and glorious bells.

Final Adornments & Enrichment

This phase focuses on expanding the facilities to enhance the Cathedral’s role as a cultural and spiritual hub:

Clergy Housing:

Acquiring residential units for our ruling bishop and clergy as well as visiting bishops and scholars to foster continuous pastoral presence and community life.

Iconostasis:

Commissioning the construction of an iconostasis with iconography embodying the sacred tradition of the Russian Orthodox faith.

Frescoes:

Commissioning bespoke religious artworks that embody the spirit, traditions and heritage of our faith. This will be a multi-year undertaking.

Community Engagement & Fundraising

ONGOING

Throughout the project, continuous engagement with our community through fundraising, volunteer opportunities, and regular updates will remain essential.
Our progress depends heavily on the generous contributions and active participation of our congregation and supporters.

Our Mission

We're a living Orthodox parish rooted in the spiritual tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church. We celebrate worship, prayer, and sacramental life in both Slavonic and English—honoring our heritage while welcoming all who seek Christ.

We exist to nurture faith across generations, serve families through the full life of the Church, and remain faithful to the liturgical, pastoral, and theological treasures entrusted to us.

Our Vision

To be a beacon of Orthodox faith in our community—a place where ancient tradition meets modern life, where every person can encounter the living Christ through worship, fellowship, and service.

We envision a parish family that grows in holiness together, supports one another through life's journey, and shares the transforming love of Christ with our neighbors and the world.
